Ocala man accused of battering woman who tried to leave trailer

Travis John Neff

An Ocala man was arrested early Tuesday morning after he allegedly pushed a woman down and grabbed her by the face while trying to keep her from leaving their trailer.

Travis John Neff, 41, was charged with simple domestic battery after the incident, which happened around 4 a.m. at the trailer he and the victim share on West Highway 40.

Contacted at her father’s house on SW 57th Street, just south of incident location, the victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that Neff likes to drink and she was feeling unsafe with him and wanted to leave. She said Neff was cursing at her and wouldn’t go to sleep, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said she told Neff she wanted to leave and he got upset. She said when she tried to exit the trailer, Neff pushed her to the floor. The victim said she was able to get to her feet and Neff grabbed her by the face and wouldn’t let go, and she had to break his grasp by pushing him off her, the report said.

The victim said she was then able to leave and drive to her father’s address. The deputy observed redness on the victim’s face and a scratch on her chest. She declined medical treatment. The victim provided a written statement, according to the report.

Contacted at his home, Neff said he and the victim argued but he didn’t place his hands on her. He couldn’t explain how she sustained her injuries, the report said.

Neff was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he remained held Thursday morning on $500 bond. He’ll answer to the domestic battery charge in Marion County Court on July 30.
