Ocala woman admits scratching family member who spit on her

Jessica Y. Nazario

An Ocala woman spent a night in jail for allegedly scratching a male family member who accidentally spit on her during an argument.

Jessica Y. Nazario, 27, of 100 Juniper Pass, told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that she and the victim got into a verbal argument. She said the victim sometimes spits when he yells, and because they were in each other’s faces, some spit got on her and she became angry. Nazario admitted to being physically aggressive with the victim and said there would be scratches on him, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said he and the victim were arguing when she began pushing him and telling him to get out of the house. The deputy observed fresh scratches on the victim’s right forearm and stomach area. The scratches still had fresh blood on them, the report said.

Nazario was charged with simple domestic battery and taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released Thursday on $500 bond. She’ll answer to the charge in Marion County Court on Aug. 7.
