Driver extricated from crash and trauma alerted to Ocala hospital

Crews from Ocala Fire Rescue had to extricate a driver from a two vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon.

The driver of this compact car was extricated from the wreckage and trauma alerted to an Ocala hospital following a two-vehicle crash in the 500 block of S Pine Avenue on Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters responded at 4:42 p.m. to reports of a vehicle crash in the 500 block of S Pine Avenue. When they arrived a short time later, they found a collision involving two compact vehicles. The drivers were the only people in the vehicles and one of them needed to be extricated from the wreckage, a report says.

Crews from Engine 1, Engine 3 and Rescue 3, along with a battalion chief and safety officer, worked together using hydraulic extrication tools to remove the front passenger-side door to gain access to the injured driver. Firefighters also cut the vehicle posts to remove the roof so the patient could be safely removed from the car, the report says.

That driver was then trauma alerted to an Ocala hospital, while the second driver escaped injury, the report says.
