Nominations for the Mary Sue Rich Diversity Awards are being accepted by the Racial Harmony and Cultural Awareness Task Force through Thursday, August 15.
Presented annually since 2003, the Mary Sue Rich Diversity Awards are given to those who have distinguished themselves by promoting racial harmony and equality, raising cultural awareness, and celebrating diversity in Ocala and Marion County. Honorees will be recognized at the annual Unity Breakfast Tuesday on October 22.
Four awards will be presented in the following categories:
- Individual
- Unsung Hero
- Organization/Non-Profit
- Business
Hard copies of the nomination form can be picked up and submitted Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department located at 828 NE Eighth Ave. Electronic copies of the nomination form can be downloaded from the REACH Ocala Marion website reachocalamarion.org/reach/
The deadline to submit nominations is Thursday, August 15 at 5 p.m.
“If you know of an individual, organization or business you believe is deserving of this recognition, we hope you will honor them by submitting a nomination on their behalf,” said Kathy Crile, City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department Director.
“We encourage you to talk to your colleagues, friends, family, church members and community leaders about this significant award,” added Crile.
