Ocala domestic battery suspect charged with violating release deal

Jorge Luis Fret

An Ocala man awaiting trial on domestic battery and child abuse charges was arrested for allegedly violating his pretrial release agreement.

As part of his pretrial release agreement for his arrest in June, Jorge Luis Fret, 38, of 8740 SE 64th Ave., is required to wear a GPS monitoring device and not allowed within a mile of the victim’s home, her work, or her child’s school.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy received a text message alert Monday morning reporting that Fret had entered an exclusion zone. GPS tracking showed he entered the zone at the 2400 block of SE 17th Street at 10:32 a.m. and exited it three minutes later at the 3700 block of SE 17 Maricamp Road, according to the sheriff’s office report.

Fret told the deputy his father was driving and he hadn’t advised him of his exclusion zone locations. Fret said, “I apologize and I’m asking for another chance,” the report said.

Fret had a previous exclusion zone violation on July 24 and was warned he’d be subject to arrest if it happened again. He was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was released Tuesday on $2,000 bond. He’s scheduled to appear in Marion County Jail on Sept. 4.
