An 88-year-old Ocala sex offender was jailed Thursday morning after violating conditions of his probation.
Donald Burton Rowell originally was charged on Feb. 20, 2018 with lewd and lascivious behavior with a victim under 16 years of age. He was placed on probation for 10 years with a litany of conditions, which included being electronically monitored, registering as a sex offender and having no contact with children under 18 unless supervised by another adult.
Rowell was arrested after it appeared that he tampered with his ankle monitor. He was then taken into custody by a Marion County sheriff’s sex offender detective, a report says.
Rowell was charged with violating his probation on the charge of lewd and lascivious behavior with a victim under 16 years of age. He was released Thursday night on his own recognizance and his next court date hasn’t yet been set, jail records show.
