Citra man charged with leaving scene of accident with injuries

Levy Ramos Jackson

A habitual traffic offender from Citra was arrested for allegedly leaving the scene of an accident with injuries in Ocala.

An Ocala Police community service specialist observed a traffic crash Monday in the 3700 block of NW Blichton Road. The at-fault vehicle, a silver 1994 Jeep, was driven by a white male who fled on foot. The CSS followed the man, later identified as 30-year-old Levy Ramos Jackson, to the rear of the Motel 6, 3810 NW Blichton Road, and detained him until an OPD officer arrived and secured Jackson, according to the police report.

Jackson, whose address is listed as 15145 NW 4th Ave. in Citra, spontaneously told the officer he didn’t mean to run but was “scared.” When asked if he had any identification, Jackson said he didn’t have a “license,” the report said.

A search of the Florida Driver and Vehicle Information Database (DAVID) revealed that Jackson’s driving privileges were suspended/revoked for five years and he was made a habitual offender on May 24, 2018, according to the report.

Jackson was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injuries and driving while license suspended or revoked (habitual offender). He was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he’s being held on $7,000 bond. Jackson will appear in Marion County Court on Sept. 17.
