City of Ocala applying for FEMA assistance to upgrade lift stations

The City of Ocala is looking for assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to upgrade a couple of local lift stations.

The city has applied for a grant on behalf of the Water Resources Department in order to address concerns surrounding the lift stations and generator, according to a public notice issued Wednesday morning.

In the grant application to FEMA, the city indicated that the project’s focus is to upgrade the lift stations by “elevating the electrical equipment one foot above the base flood elevation (BFE),” as well as install a new generator.

The lift stations are located at 821 SE 23rd Street and 1601 SE 14th Ave.
