The owner of La Famiglia Pizzeria cited health issues as the main reason behind the unexpected closure of his restaurant.
Steve Escandon, who has been the mastermind behind La Famiglia’s Pizzeria for nearly 10 years, explained the tough decision in a message to Ocala-News.com.
Escandon indicated that personal health issues were the driving force that led the closure of the business that has been open for nearly a decade, first getting its start in a separate location on Baseline Road.
“While we take a break from the business, we have time to think about our future, whether or not we would like to open up again, or start something new,” said Escandon in an email response to Ocala-News.com’s request for comment.
“We appreciate all our customers throughout our years, and hopefully we’ll be back in the future. It’s still undecided what we want to do with the food truck, but it is no longer for sale,” said Escandon, citing a food truck that he spent a year renovating before putting it on the market earlier this month.
Escandon also issued a thank you to customers and didn’t shut the door on a possible return of the business in the future.
