Recently-released Reddick man jailed after nasty spat with woman

Eric Douglas Heinemann

A Reddick man who recently spent two months in the Marion County Jail for domestic battery was arrested for allegedly throwing a woman out of their residence during an argument.

Eric Douglas Heinemann, 44, was charged with simple battery (touch or strike) after the incident, which happened Wednesday afternoon at the home where he and the victim live together on West Highway 329. Heinemann has two previous domestic battery arrests and was in jail from Nov. 4, 2018, to Jan. 4, 2019 for domestic battery and a probation violation, according to jail records.

The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy she and Heinemann had been arguing for several hours. She said the two of them were outside and she was following him around the property in her vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said she followed Heinemann inside when he went inside to get a drink and he grabbed her in a bearhug and threw her into the garage, causing her to hit her right forearm on something. The deputy observed an abrasion on the victim’s right arm, the report said.

Heinemann told the deputy he and the victim had been arguing and that after he finished working on her tractor, he went inside to get a drink and some food. He said at the time the victim entered the residence, he was trying to call his brother and the victim unplugged the phone. He said he grabbed her and put her outside in the garage, and that he doesn’t know if she hit her right forearm during the incident.

The report noted that the victim in this case was in violation of a pre-trial release agreement that was in place due to her battering Heinemann on Aug. 16. She was also arrested for allegedly violating the pre-trial release agreement.

Heinemann was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was being held on $500 bond as of Monday. He’s scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on Sept. 12.
