Interfaith Emergency Services inviting community to experience homeless lifestyle through ‘Walk a Mile’ fundraiser

Interfaith Emergency Services is inviting the community to experience the homeless lifestyle through a fundraiser on Saturday, September 14.

The “Walk a Mile” fundraiser is an opportunity for local residents to experience the conditions for one mile that many homeless live with on a daily basis.

Attendees will commit to walk 1 mile and solicit sponsorships of any
amount for their walk or pay $25.

Upon arriving at the starting point (917 E Silver Springs Blvd), participants will surrender their shoes and
select a pair of donated shoes. Participants will then carry their personal shoes in a plastic bag along with a card-board sign.

Participants will then walk one mile down Silver Springs Blvd to the IES Center for Life (

Proceeds support Interfaith’s homeless shelter that serves women, children and families.

Registration begins at 9:00 a.m., with the walk beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Prizes are awarded to those who raise the most money.
