Local mayoral candidate hosting ‘sign-waving’ event on eve of election

A local mayoral candidate will host a sign-waving event and a local group in support of the candidate will host a phone bank on the eve of Ocala’s upcoming election.

Barbara Fitos, who is running for mayor against incumbent Kent Guinn, is looking to drum up support for her campaign in the hours before polls open across Ocala.

Fitos is calling for volunteers on September 16th and 17th for a day of sign waving and support for her campaign. For questions about the sign waving event, email barbara@barbarafitos.com.

Volunteers will meet at a location that is yet to be determined and will have the option to sign wave from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and/or 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

In addition, the North Central Florida Central Labor Council will host a “turn out the union vote” event for Fitos from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Marion County Education Association office (2801 SW College Rd #14). Food will be provided at the venue.

For participants interested in participating remotely, options are also available. All interested parties may RSVP by email to Jeremiah Tattersall (jtattersall@flaflcio.org) or at 352-222-1991.
