Multiple crews from Marion County Fire Rescue battled a roaring blaze at Market of Marion on Monday night.
A video and photos posted on the fire agency’s Facebook page showed a large building fully involved in flames. The building appears to be one that would house a large collection of vendors at the popular flea market on any given weekend.
In the photos, firefighters can be seen using high-powered saws to cut through metal doors to gain access to the burning building. Other photos show the massive destruction to the structure, as well as a burning trailer and golf cart that was parked next to it.
Market of Marion is located at 12888 SE U.S. Hwy. 441 in Belleview. It’s open Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 8 am. to 4 p.m.
The market offers more than 1,100 booths with more than 400 dealers and is known for selling everything from fresh fruits and vegetables to antiques and collectibles to auto parts, tools, mattresses, clothes, toys and jewelry, to name a few things.
