A 57-year-old Reddick man was arrested Tuesday following a two-day domestic dispute that ended with him allegedly punching a woman and forcing her out of his vehicle at an Ocala supermarket.
Calvonia Lamar Bradley, of NW 130th Street, was charged with simple domestic battery. A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded to the Winn-Dixie at 7131 N. Hwy. 441, where the victim was being treated by Marion County Fire Rescue medics. The victim was crying and said several times, “I want him arrested,” according to the sheriff’s office report.
The victim told the deputy the Bradley became upset with her Monday evening and grabbed her by the throat and forced her to the ground. She pointed out several bruises on her arms and legs that were consistent with the victim’s statement, the report said.
The victim said Bradley was driving her to Winn-Dixie on Tuesday when he pulled into the parking lot from the Highway 326 entrance, punched her in the head and said, “get out.” She said she got out of the vehicle and immediately tried to find a bystander with a phone to call 911. The deputy did not observe any physical injuries on the victim’s face, according to the report.
Contacted at his residence, Bradley said he and the victim did not have a physical confrontation. He said the victim consumes high amounts of alcohol and uses drugs. He said the victim got out of the vehicle at the store at her own request and went to an unknown location, the report said.
Bradley said he and the victim argued the previous night about the victim’s alcohol consumption and financial issues. He said that after the argument, the victim’s daughter picked her up and left for an unknown location, and the victim didn’t return until approximately 2 a.m. Tuesday.
Bradley was taken to Marion County Jail, where he was being held Thursday on $1,000 bond. He’ll appear in Marion County Court on Oct. 2.
