Ocala man and juvenile accused of battery

Kearon Deshan Powell

A 20-year-old Ocala man and a juvenile male were arrested for allegedly battering a man who wanted them to leave his residence.

Kearon Deshan Powell, of NW 42nd Avenue Road, charged with simple battery after the incident, which happened Wednesday evening. The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that Powell and the juvenile had been given permission by a witness to enter his home to use the restroom, but that the victim didn’t want them in the home because they would leave a mess, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said when he told Powell he needed to leave, Powell pushed him backwards and began to batter him. The victim said the juvenile joined the altercation and began battering him, too. He said he was hit in the back of his head and right eye, and the deputy observed that his right eyelid area was discolored. The witness gave a statement that was consistent with the victim’s account, according to the report.

Powell admitted he was in an altercation with the victim but said the victim pushed him first and started battering him. The juvenile said he observed Powell in an altercation with the victim and joined in to help him, the result said.

Powell was released Thursday on his own recognizance and will appear in Marion County Court on Oct. 22.
