Ocala man on probation nabbed while driving with suspended license

Paul Douglas Long

An Ocala man found himself behind bars Wednesday morning after he was spotted driving a vehicle with an expired license plate.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy stopped a blue 1994 Nissan pickup in the area of Hwy. 40 and SW 110th Avenue and spoke with the vehicle’s driver, 37-year-old Paul Douglas Long, who said his license was suspended and he was on probation.

The deputy confirmed that Long’s license was revoked on April 3 for one year for fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer. A computer check also showed that he had two prior convictions for driving while license suspended or revoked on Jan. 3, 2005 and Nov. 17, 2001.

Long, who lives in the 500 block of NW 117th Court in Ocala, was taken into custody and charged with driving while license suspended (third or subsequent offense) and a probation violation for fleeing and eluding. He is being held on $5,000 bond and is due in court Oct. 14 and Oct. 22 to answer to the charges.
