Ocala woman reportedly cut wrist and jumped out window during nasty spat

Carianne M. Young

An Ocala woman reportedly cut her own wrist and jumped out a bedroom window during a wild domestic spat.

Carianne M. Young, 30, of NW 28th Place, was charged with simple domestic battery after the incident, which happened Tuesday. Both Young and the victim were heavily intoxicated when an Ocala Police officer arrived on the scene, and Young had multiple cuts on the inside of her left wrist, according to the police report.

Young told the officer she and the victim had been drinking and she just wanted to get his attention. She said in order to get his attention, she grabbed a kitchen knife and cut her wrist multiple times, the report said.

The victim said at first that nothing physical happened and he just wanted Young to receive help. He then said spontaneously that Young grabbed him and pushed him at one point, but he wouldn’t say anything else about the incident and refused to complete domestic paperwork. The officer observed scratch marks on the victim’s torso and a bruise on the right side of his chin, according to the report.

An eyewitness said Young and the victim had been drinking and arguing all day. She said just prior to the victim calling law enforcement, Young jumped on his back and started hitting him in the chest, the report said.

The witness said once Young and the victim separated, Young grabbed her 2-year-old child and went into the bedroom. The witness said Young was holding the child and told her she was going to kill herself and the child. The witness said she was able to retrieve the child from Young’s arms before she jumped out the window, according to the report.

Young was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center for treatment for her superficial cuts. Once cleared, she was taken to the Marion County Jail. She was released Wednesday on $500 bond and will appear in Marion County Court on Nov. 7.
