Ocala man cited in three-vehicle crash that seriously injures motorcyclist

An Ocala man was cited Sunday after colliding with two motorcycles on NE 36th Avenue in Marion County, not far from Vanguard High School’s Booster Stadium.

The crash took place shortly before 11 a.m. when a northbound 2007 Honda Civic driven by 39-year-old Arthur Dias, of Ocala, swerved to the left to avoid a vehicle that had slowed down to turn right onto NE 40th Place. Dias’ car crossed into southbound lane and struck a 2018 Harley-Davidson Roadster driven by 47-year-old David Higginbotham, of Green Cove Springs, and a 2017 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Classic driven by 76-year-old Ronald Minor, of Fleming Island, a Florida Highway Patrol report states.

All three motorists were transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center. Higginbotham suffered serious injuries in the crash, while Dias and Minor received minor injuries. Dias, who was wearing his seat belt, was cited for failing to maintain a single lane and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, the FHP report says.
