Birdwell Foundation hosting poker run, pool tournament to raise PTSD awareness

The Birdwell Foundation of Florida will host a poker run and pool tournament to raise awareness of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

The event will be held on Saturday, October 12, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registration will begin at 9 p.m. at Suite 306 (3131 SW College Rd), with the ride beginning at 10 a.m.

The stops for the ride include VFW #4493 (543 NE Sanchez Ave), VFW #4209 (4805 NE 36th Ave), FOE #4216 (4201 NE 36th Ave), Ocala Veterans Park (2601 E Fort King St), and Opus Bar and Billiards (6658 SE 110th St).

The cost to participate in the fundraiser is $20 per bike, or $20 per vehicle, and the cost to participate in the pool tournament is $10. Registration for the pool tournament begins at 11 a.m. at the Opus Bar & Billiards (6658 SE 110th St).

The Birdwell Foundation was created by military veterans that met after running support groups for fellow veterans. Since its inception in June of 2018, the group has run weekly support groups for any person suffering from PTSD. The group is comprised of military veterans, law enforcement agents, first responders, and others that have felt the effects of PTSD.
