Flames break out and damage 11 units at Ocala self-storage facility

Crews from Ocala Fire Rescue responded to a commercial structure fire at a self-storage business on Friday night.

The cause of a blaze that damaged 11 units at the StoreRight Self Storage on SW 17th Road hasn’t been determined.

As multiple crews approached the StoreRight Self Storage at 2401 SW 17th Rd., they reported seeing billowing smoke coming from the business. They then gained access to the locked site, identified the building that was on fire and located the origin of the blaze, a report says.

Crews from Engines 3, 4, and 7 and Tower 1, along with two battalion chiefs and a safety officer, utilized multiple hose lines to extinguish the flames and prevent the fire from spreading. It was confined to the building of origin and 11 units were damaged in the blaze, the report says.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire hasn’t yet been determined. Officers from the Ocala Police Department and crews from Marion County Fire Rescue also responded, the report says.
