Transplanted New Yorker nabbed for trespassing again at popular Belleview minimart

Richard Edward Kurdt

A homeless New Yorker was jailed early Wednesday morning after showing up at a Belleview minimart where he wasn’t welcome.

A Belleview Police officer was called to the Wawa at 5726 SE Abshier Blvd. and when he arrived, the manager told him that 50-year-old Richard Edward Kurdt was in the store’s back the parking lot. The manager said Kurdt had been trespassed from the store in the past and he didn’t want him there, a police report states.

The officer found Kurdt, originally from Long Island, N.Y., sitting on a curb in the parking lot. He first said he didn’t remember being trespassed from the store in the past but later said that he did. He then apologized and said “he was just sitting,” the report says.

The officer verified that Kurdt had been trespassed from the minimart on Sept. 29. He was then taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with trespass after warning. He is due to be released from the jail on Friday, Oct. 25 at 9 a.m., records show.
