United Way hosting town hall for non-profits interested in community grants

United Way of Marion County is hosting a town hall orientation session for local non-profit agencies who are interested in applying for a community grant to become a United Way Funded Partner.

The session will provide an overview of UWMC’s upcoming funding opportunities for the 2020-2022 grant cycle, and how our local organizations can address target issues and basic needs of Marion County residents.

United Way’s Education, Financial Stability and Health Vision Councils consist of local community experts and residents that oversee the efforts to address critical needs in our community.

They will be presenting their objectives and strategies on each target issue at several town hall meetings on Thursday November 21, 2019 at the College of Central Florida, Ewers Century Center, Teleconference room. Organizations that are interested in applying for funding are strongly encouraged to attend. The public is also welcome to attend the presentations to learn how United Way is working locally to make a difference for our friends and neighbors. The education council will present from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., the financial stability council will present from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and the health council will present from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

“We look forward to sharing with the community just how United Way of Marion County fights for the education, health and financial stability of every person in Marion County, says Scot Quintel, local United Way President and CEO. “At these sessions we will share the plans that our Vision Councils have put together as well as how organizations that are interested in partnering with United Way of Marion County can apply for funding.”

United Way of Marion County is currently funding 25 programs through 21 local agencies. The current two-year funding cycle continues through June 30, 2020. Requests for proposals for the new funding cycle starting July 1 will be available in January.
