Ocala City Council OKs alcoholic beverage permits for minimart and theater

Ocala City Council members granted alcoholic beverage permits to two area businesses on Tuesday night.

The first permit went to Wawa Florida for its convenience store at 3080 SE Maricamp Rd. The minimart, which covers 5,943 square feet, requested the permit for the sale of beer and wine for off-premises consumption.

The second permit went to Epic Theatres Ocala, which is located at 4414 SW College Road, Unit 1200. That facility seats 1,608 people and will be allowed to sell beer, wine and liquor for on-site consumption from 11 a.m. to midnight Monday-Saturday and from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. on Sunday.

The permits will be provisional for three months, upon which time the applicants can request they be extended an additional three months. During the provisional period, the permit holders must provide to the city’s building department copies of the vendor’s state-issued alcoholic beverage license. If that doesn’t happen, or if the name on the state-issued license isn’t the same as the name of the permit holder, the permit will be voided. Otherwise, it will become fully issued.
