An Ocala man was arrested Sunday after a woman said he slapped her while she was driving.
The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that Charles L. Davis, 46, of 6777 NW 62nd Place, struck her in the mouth with an open hand while she was driving in the area of 5740 NW Gainesville Road. The deputy observed the victim’s lip was swollen and she had blood on her mouth, according to the sheriff’s office report.
Davis said he accidentally hit the victim with the refrigerator door the previous night. He was charged with simple domestic battery and taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was released early Tuesday on $1,000 bond. Davis will appear in Marion County Court on Nov. 27.
