Woman accused of throwing speaker at boyfriend who was leaving her

Anita Gonzalez

A 26-year-old Ocala woman was arrested last Thursday for allegedly battering her boyfriend in an effort to keep him from moving out of their residence.

The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that Anita Gonzalez grabbed him by his right arm, scratching him, and then tried to block him from leaving, but he pushed past her. He said he went back inside to get more of his belongings when Gonzalez threw a speaker that struck his head and later pushed him by the left side of his head, according to the sheriff’s office report.

Gonzalez said she and the victim were arguing when she got in his face as he tried to leave. She admitted she grabbed the victim but only after he pushed her on the left side of her head. She also admitted to throwing the speaker at the victim, the report said.

The deputy observed a small laceration on the victim’s bicep and faint redness on Gonzalez’s left ear. Gonzalez charged with simple domestic battery and taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released Friday night on $100 bond. She’ll appear in Marion County Court on Nov. 27.
