Ocala man jailed after calling 911 to report ‘corruption’ in arrest six years ago

Michael Robert Gibbs

A 50-year-old Ocala man found himself behind bars recently after calling a 911 operator to report “corruption” behind his arrest six years ago.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies scrambled to a residence in the 6600 block of Carlow Terrace and when they arrived, they observed a man later identified as Michael Robert Gibbs speaking with a 911 operator. A sergeant reported that Gibbs wasn’t reporting any specific emergency.

Further investigation showed that several sheriff’s deputies had responded three other times to the same residence for 911 calls placed by Gibbs. Each time it was determined that there was no actual emergency, a sheriff’s office report states.

After Gibbs said that he was reporting information about his earlier arrest, he was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with misuse of the 911 system. Gibbs was released on $100 bond and is due in court Dec. 27 at 9:30 a.m. to answer to the charge.
