Ocala man dies after being ejected from pickup in rollover crash on I-75

An Ocala man was killed and two others were injured Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 75.

Alexander Diaz, 33, was pronounced dead at Ocala Regional Medical Center shortly after the 3:55 p.m. crash near Mile Marker 342. He was ejected from the northbound 2002 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck during the crash, a Florida Highway Patrol report states.

The driver, 27-year-old Omar Dones Solis, of Ocala, apparently lost control of the vehicle, which was pulling a trailer. He swerved into center lane and back across the right lane before running off the roadway and overturning on the east shoulder, the FHP report says.

Solis and another passenger, 60-year-old Luis Diaz Rodriguez, also of Ocala, received minor injuries and were transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center for treatment. Charges are pending the outcome of the FHP investigation.
