Belleview woman popped while knowingly driving with a suspended license

Amy Carolyn Gardner

A 41-year-old Belleview woman was jailed Thursday after being stopped for having an expired license tag on her 2014 Volkswagen Passat.

A Belleview Police officer spotted the vehicle, driven by Amy Carolyn Gardner, after performing a security check at the Belleview Regional shopping center. The officer ran the license tag number and discovered it had expired in February 2018, a police report states.

Gardner told the officer that she didn’t have her driver’s license because it was suspended. The officer then ran a computer check and discovered that Gardner had two prior convictions for driving while license suspended.

Gardner, who lives in the 12300 block of SE 86th Ave. in Belleview, was then taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where she was charged with knowingly driving with a suspended license. She was released early Friday morning on $1,000 bond and her next court date hasn’t yet been set, jail records show.
