Ocala woman jailed after nasty battle with scratched-up man friend

Amy R. Gore

A 41-year-old Ocala woman found herself behind bars last week after a nasty altercation with her longtime man friend over a phone call.

Ocala Police officers on Wednesday spoke with 41-year-old Amy R. Gore, who told them she had been in an argument with her boyfriend of 12 years because he was upset that she was on the phone. She claimed he took her phone from her, walked outside and threw it at the front door, breaking the glass. She said she knew he was calling law enforcement so she waited outside for officers to arrive, a police report states.

Gore’s boyfriend, who had several “severe” scratches on his face, said the two had been arguing when she broke two bottles of cologne on the floor. He said he told her to leave but she refused, so he went outside so she’d follow him. Once she was outside, he said he went back inside and locked the door, the report says.

The boyfriend said he thought Gore had left the residence until he heard a crash at the front door. He said he then discovered the broken glass and saw that Gore was still outside the residence.

The boyfriend also claimed that earlier inside the house, Gore had broken her phone while thinking it was his. When she realized what had happened, she picked up another phone and broke it, the report says.

Officers spoke with Gore a second time and noted it was “obvious” she had been drinking. She first denied breaking the cologne bottles, then admitted it and denied it a second time. She also had a hard time explaining a timeline of what had occurred, the report says.

Gore was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where she was charged with battery (dating violence). She was released Thursday night on her own recognizance and is due in court on Dec. 3 at 8:30 a.m.
