RV dweller nabbed after violent tiff with elderly gal pal over walking their dog

James Scott Pilger

A nasty argument with a senior citizen about walking their dog landed an Ocala recreational vehicle dweller in jail earlier this week.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies spoke with the victim, who said she was inside the RV when the altercation erupted and she was afraid 52-year-old James Scott Pilger “may hurt her again.” She then showed deputies a large bruise on her chest, a sheriff’s office report states.

The woman told deputies that she and Pilger were arguing while she was searching for their dog’s leash. She said he pushed her and caused her to fall on a hard object, which bruised her chest. She said she got up and continued to look for the leash but a short time later Pilger pushed her again, causing her to fall and hit her head on a vacuum cleaner, which left two small lacerations in-between her eyebrows, the report says.

After Pilger was arrested, he told deputies that he and the victim were in a verbal altercation when she started kicking him in the legs and ankle area. He also claimed she stepped on his ankles but when asked if she was wearing shoes, he responded, “I don’t know.” Pilger also said he had bruising around both of his ankles and deputies noted a slight discoloration, the report says.

Pilger then refused to answer questions and was transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with battery on a person 65 years of age or older. He is being held on $1,000 bond and is due in court Dec. 23 at 9 a.m.
