Area pet owners are being warned about the dangers of feeding Thanksgiving treats to their animals.
A variety of items that could be on holiday tables aren’t considered safe for pets. Those include:
- Turkey skin;
- Turkey bones;
- Gravy;
- Stuffing;
- Sage;
- Raisins/grapes;
- Onions;
- Garlic;
- Nutmeg;
- Nuts;
- Mushrooms;
- Fat Trimmings;
- Corn on the cob;
- Chocolate;
- Candied yams;
- Butter;
- Bread dough; and
- Alcohol.
Items from the Thanksgiving meal that are acceptable for pets include:
- Turkey (light meat only);
- Cranberry sauce;
- Mashed potatoes (no butter);
- Sweet potatoes;
- Green beans;
- Pumpkin; and
- Apple slices.
