Ocala firefighters battle brush fire threatening nearby buildings

Firefighters on Engine 2 and 5, along with a battalion chief, were called to the blaze in the 4900 block of E Silver Springs Boulevard shortly before 1 p.m. When they arrived, they found flames near residential and commercial buildings, a report says.

Using preconnected hose lines and hand tools, firefighters doused the flames with roughly 1,500 gallons of water. The blaze was extinguished before it could threaten nearby structures and no injuries were reported.
