Ocala offering free parking at 159 downtown meters through Dec. 31

The city of Ocala is gifting residents free downtown parking this holiday season.

In an effort to support local businesses, beginning Monday, Dec. 9, the city of Ocala will waive all parking rates at its 159 metered parking spaces in downtown through Tuesday, Dec. 31.

The normal parking meter rates, which are 50 cents per hour, are normally in effect from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Although the parking rates will be waived, the time limit of three hours per space, for most spaces, will still be enforced. Normal parking operations downtown will resume Wednesday, January 1.

In addition to the metered parking spaces, free parking is available daily at the downtown parking garage located at 296 SE Broadway St. Residents and visitors are also encouraged to take advantage of the free valet service, which is located on the west side of the downtown square. The valet service is in effect Tuesdays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturdays from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
