Orlando man jailed after vicious attack on doctor who released him from treatment center

Enjosi Oliver Campbell

An Orlando man who went berserk after being told he was being released from a counseling and mental health facility is behind bars in the Marion County Jail.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies were called to The Centers, located at 5664 SW 60th Ave. in Ocala, shortly before midnight on Dec. 11. When they arrived, a doctor said he had been attacked by 25-year-old Enjosi Oliver Campbell after telling him he was being released.

The doctor said Campbell was swinging at him and trying to punch him. He said Campbell knocked over a refrigerator, which caused the door to break off. He then grabbed a computer off a desk and struck the doctor in the head with it several times, breaking the monitor’s screen in the process, a sheriff’s office report states.

Deputies noted the doctor had several large abrasions and red marks on the side of his head and neck and behind his ears, the report says.

An eyewitness who is a supervisor at the treatment facility confirmed that Campbell became angry when told he was being released. She said he started attacking the doctor “while grabbing things and throwing them.” She also confirmed that Campbell hit the doctor several times on the head with the computer before the staff was able to intervene, the report says.

Campbell, who lives at 18 N Terry Ave. in Orlando, was then arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with aggravated battery on the doctor and criminal mischief. He is being held on $6,000 bond and is due in court on Jan. 14 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charges.
