An Ocala man who wasn’t getting the attention he craved from his lady friend was jailed Sunday after being arrested while he was on the job at a discount store.
The victim told Marion County sheriff’s deputies on Friday that she and 31-year-old Eton Quran Johnson had been having frequent arguments and they had recently started to escalate. She said she was attempting to stay quiet and “out of the way” of Johnson on Sunday, a sheriff’s office report states.
The victim said Sunday’s argument broke out because Johnson thought she was “ignoring him to make him angry.” She said a verbal altercation started and she told Johnson she was leaving, the report says.
But the victim said that when she attempted to leave the residence, Johnson “forcibly and physically” prevented her from doing so. She claimed Johnson pushed her back into the house and away from the door, causing her fall down on her right knee, the report says, adding that deputies noticed a red mark on her knee about the size of a quarter.
Deputies attempted to make contact with Johnson at his home on Locust Loop but had no luck. But they located him on Sunday while he was working at the Dollar General store at 6725 SE Maricamp Rd. He “immediately uttered” that he was “just verbal” with the victim and claimed nothing else happened. He also said he didn’t want her to leave, the report says.
Johnson was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with domestic battery. He was being held with no bond and his next court date hasn’t yet been set, jail records show.
