Ocala man charged with strangling lady friend for snooping through phone

Rodrick Deveon Snow

An Ocala man was arrested for allegedly beating and strangling a woman after she looked through his cell phone.

Rodrick Deveon Snow, 29, of 481 Water Run, was charged with domestic battery by strangulation after the incident, which happened around 2:30 a.m. Monday at the victim’s apartment. The victim, who had fresh small cuts under her right eye, told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy the injuries were probably from when Snow was choking her and she was trying to breathe, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The deputy found Snow hiding behind the laundry room door. He said he didn’t know what happened, and that the verbal altercation between the two started when the victim looked through his phone, the report said.

Snow was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he remained held Tuesday on $5,000 bond. He’s due to appear in Marion County Court on Feb. 4.
