32-year-old woman arrested after fighting over victim’s child

Jennifer Linares

An Ocala woman was arrested after she allegedly beat up a woman who tried to grab her daughter back from her.

Jennifer Linares, 32, was charged with simple battery after the incident, which happened Wednesday afternoon. The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy she’s been residing with Linares for about a year. She said she was in her room with her children when Linares forced her way into the room and grabbed the victim’s daughter, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said she tried to grab her daughter back by grabbing Linares by her arm, and Linares started attacking her physically in her facial area. The deputy observed red marks under the victim’s right eye and left cheek, which had dried blood on it, the report said.

Linares told the deputy that the victim was arguing with her boyfriend since the previous night with her children present. She said she entered the victim’s room and grabbed the child, and the victim grabbed her arm in an attempt to get the child back. Linares said she didn’t get physical with the victim, according to the report.

Linares was being held in the Marion County Jail on $500 bond. Her next court date hasn’t yet been set, jail records show.
