Ocala man accused of literally throwing woman out of home

James Thomas Millard

An Ocala man was arrested after being accused of picking up a woman and throwing her out of their home during a spat over money.

James Thomas Millard, 27, of NW Gainesville Road, was charged with simple domestic battery after the incident, which happened shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday. The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that she and Millard were arguing over financial issues and Millard not wanting to buy food, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said Millard grabbed her, lifted her up, and threw her through the front door. She said the door broke as she fell outside of the home. The victim said before Millard threw her out the door, he was threatening to burn down the house and trying to light a piece of paper before the victim took it away from him, the report said.

The victim had a thumb-sized bruise on the inner side of her left bicep, which was consistent with where she said Millard grabbed her. Millard returned to the residence a short time and spoke to another deputy. He denied grabbing the victim and said he returned only to get his belongings, according to the report.

Millard was taken to the Marion County Jail. He is being held on $5,000 and is due in court Feb. 13 at 9 a.m.
