A woman traveled quite a distance recently to donate special pendants to members of the Marion County sheriff’s office.
Ruth Laursen, president of the Saint Michael Project, came all the way from Minnesota to donate more than 400 Saint Michael charms to deputies. Saint Michael is known as the patron saint of police officers.
The Saint Michael Project is a non-profit that donates Saint Michael pendants to police officers around the country as a token of protection for the officers. Since 2016, the group has given away more than 18,000 pendants to more than 200 law enforcement agencies in 15 states.
