New details released about crash that left Ocala woman entrapped in mangled vehicle

New details have been released about a crash in Marion County on Wednesday that left one victim entrapped in her vehicle.

Ocala resident Radica Samaroo received minor injuries and was entrapped in her vehicle for a short time after a crash Wednesday at the intersection of SE Maricamp Road and Emerald Road.

The incident took place shortly before 9:30 a.m. when a Ford F450 truck driven by 38-year-old John Reid slammed into a 2013 Hyundai Accent driven by 46-year-old Radica Samaroo at the intersection of SE Maricamp Road and Emerald Road.
Samaroo, of Ocala, had been traveling north on Emerald Road when she attempted to turn left directly in the path of Reid’s truck, which struck her vehicle in the driver’s side.

Samaroo’s vehicle came to rest in the intersection of the roadways facing southeast, while Reid, also of Ocala, stopped his truck on the grass shoulder of CR 464, a Florida Highway Patrol report states.

Crews from Marion County Fire Rescue extricated Samaroo from her vehicle and she was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. Reid wasn’t injured in the crash, the report says, adding that both drivers were wearing seat belts and charges are pending the outcome of the crash investigation.
