Ocklawaha man jailed after tiff leaves lady friend scraped and covered in dirt

Nathaniel Boone Harris

An Ocklawaha man was arrested last week after a nasty scuffle with an upset lady friend that left her scraped and covered with dirt and debris.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies were called to the Ocklawaha residence shortly before 5 p.m., where the woman told them that she and 29-year-old Nathaniel Boone Harris had gotten into a verbal disagreement that led to a physical altercation.

The woman claimed that Harris “became irate” and came at her in an aggressive manner. She said she dropped to the ground so Harris wouldn’t strike her but he grabbed both of her ankles “in an aggressive manner” and pulled her toward him, causing scrape marks on her back. She said Harris then left the residence after he found out that law enforcement had been called, a sheriff’s office report states.

Deputies noted that the back of the woman’s legs and arms and her back were covered with dirt and debris. They also observed a slight red abrasion on her upper back, the report says, adding that deputies saw “drag” marks on the ground on the south side of the driveway.

Harris was taken into custody later that evening and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with battery. He was being held on no bond and is due in court on Feb. 18 at 8:30 a.m.
