Georgia fugitive wanted on weapons charge nabbed during traffic stop in Ocala

Jason Kelly McClendon

An Ocala man who was riding as a passenger in a vehicle that was involved in a traffic stop is behind bars.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle on Thursday in the 5100 block of S Pine Avenue and spoke with the passenger, 37-year-old Jason Kelly McClendon. It was determined that McClendon was a fugitive from justice for violating his parole in Georgia on a charge of possession of a firearm, a sheriff’s office report states.

The warrant was confirmed and Georgia officials said they planned to extradite McClendon on the felony charge. He was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was held with no bond.
