Ocala man nabbed on trespassing charge after caught sleeping behind law office

Kevin John Dailey

An Ocala man was arrested Monday night behind a downtown law office where vagrants commonly sleep.

An Ocala Police officer conducted a security patrol behind Sims and Stakenborg PA, located at 118 SW Fort King St., and noticed that a gate on the west side of the property had been opened. He noted that multiple “no trespassing” signs were posted on both the east and west gates entering the rear of the building.

The officer made contact with 29-year-old Kevin John Dailey, who was sleeping on the upstairs back porch of the building. He asked Dailey if he was aware of the “no trespassing” signs. He answered that “he found his way up there when he was drunk,” the report says.

The officer told Dailey that was he was trespassing and placed him under arrest. He was then transported to the Marion County Jail and charged with trespassing on property. He is being held on $100 bond and is due in court Feb. 13 at 9 a.m.
