Marion Oaks man behind bars after high-speed pursuit of stolen vehicle

Terrance Manuel Rivera

A Marion Oaks man found himself behind bars this past weekend after allegedly stealing a family member’s vehicle and fleeing from law enforcement.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a dark-colored four-door vehicle with no headlights that was being driven by 19-year-old Terrance Manuel Rivera. When he refused to stop, the deputy initiated a pursuit of the vehicle that saw Rivera crash into a fence at Sunrise Elementary School at 375 Marion Oaks Course.

The pursuit continued and Rivera eventually stopped in the 2800 block of SW 29th Circle in Ocala. The deputy removed Rivera from the vehicle at gunpoint and placed him handcuffs. Rivera twice asked the deputy if he was going to be shot and he assured him that wasn’t going to happen.

Rivera was transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with aggravated fleeing with injury or damage, grand theft of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license. He is being held on $10,500 bond and is due in court Feb. 25 at 9 a.m.
