Shirtless Ocala woman who admitted to smoking ‘spice’ jailed after going berserk

Amanda Ashley Leggett

A shirtless Ocala woman who admitted to smoking “spice” and was jumping up and down on a Marion County roadway was jailed late Wednesday afternoon.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy reported that 34-year-old Amanda Ashley Leggett was “sweaty and excited” when he arrived. He made contact with a witness who said that Leggett had been chasing another woman and hitting her. The witness said she told them to stay away from each other but Leggett attacked the victim in the roadway. The witness said she called for help as the screaming victim ran away.

The victim told the deputy that Leggett had smoked “spice” – typically a chemical version of THC – and started acting erratically. She said Leggett damaged items inside the residence and then went outside, “acted crazy” and chased the victim, a sheriff’s office report states.

The victim said Leggett chased her and raised her and but never hit her. Leggett overheard the conversation with the deputy and also stated that she didn’t hit the victim, the report says.

Leggett was then placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail, where she was charged with domestic battery. She was being held on $1,000 bond and is due in court Feb. 18 at 8:30 a.m.
