Silver Springs man who called 911 and hung up arrested after violent tirade

James David Lee

A Silver Springs man called 911 and said, “I’m going to kill this (expletive deleted) tonight,” and hung up before being arrested Tuesday on a domestic battery charge.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded to a residence on NE 85th Place and observed a shattered window. The deputy went inside and detained James Lee, 33, who said he and the victim had been arguing since Monday night and it turned physical when she put her finger in his face, according to the sheriff’s office report.

Lee said the victim “likes to put her finger in my face, I just (expletive deleted) grab her.” He said the victim pushes his buttons and makes him angry. Lee said he put holes in the wall and threw an elliptical at the window, causing it to shatter, the report said.

Lee said that during Tuesday’s altercation, he “mugged her one time, pushed her head back.” When asked what he meant by “mugging” the victim, he explained he put three fingers on her forehead and one on her chin, then pushed her back, according to the report.

The victim told the deputy that Lee “shows his ass all the time.” She said there is something wrong with him mentally and described him as psychotic. The victim said Lee needs help. She said nothing physical happened on Tuesday and that the only thing Lee does is beat her down with words. The victim didn’t have any visible injuries, the report said.

Lee was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was released Wednesday on his own recognizance. He’s scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on Feb. 17.
