A Marion County school bus carrying 38 elementary and middle school students was involved in a crash early Wednesday afternoon.
The 2020 International 3000 school bus, driven by 76-year-old Stephen Nelson, of Ocala, was traveling west on County Road 316 when it ran into the back of a 2007 GMC Yukon driven by 44-year-old Chris Handley, of Salt Springs. The incident happened shortly before 2:30 p.m. just west of County Road 315, a Florida Highway Patrol report states.
Prior to the collision, Handley had been waiting to make a left turn off CR 316. Nelson was cited for careless driving and three students were transported to AdventHealth Ocala with possible injuries, the FHP report says.
