The Racial Harmony and Cultural Awareness Task Force is preparing to host “REACH Across the Table” at Silver Springs State Park.
The gathering of community members will be held Thursday, Feb. 27 from 5:15 to 8:30 p.m. at the park, located at 5656 E Silver Springs Blvd. It will provide information on community concerns that impact the ability to accept each other’s differences and come together as one. The theme for this year’s event is “Respect – One Community.”
The gathering is free and open to the public. Registration is required and limited to 150 people. Parking is free and a light meal will be provided by Brooklyn’s Backyard.
Members of the community who are interested in engaging in dynamic conversation should reserve their seat by clicking HERE. Conversations from the event will help steer the task force’s goals and objectives for the coming year.
The Racial Harmony and Cultural Awareness Task Force is a City of Ocala initiative lead by retired City Councilwoman Mary Sue Rich. The REACH program allows for an open dialogue among community leaders and residents to encourage a unified existence.
“The ‘REACH Across the Table’ event is intended to continue conversations about diversity that contribute to an inclusive environment wherever we live, worship, learn, work or play,” said Kathy Crile, Ocala Recreation and Parks director. “The foundation of a strong community is respect. When we work together to identify and resolve the issues that threaten to divide us, we walk away with a better understanding that allows us to embrace our differences and come together as one community. I’m looking forward to conversations with community stakeholders who share this vision and want to work side by side toward these common goals.”
