A Belleview man was arrested recently after his lady friend claimed he battered her following a gender reveal party where they both had a few drinks.
The woman said when they returned home, she went inside the house through the garage to use the restroom. She said 30-year-old John Michael Swindle then met her in the hallway that leads to the garage, grabbed her face and shoved her head against the wall, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office report states, adding that Swindle also allegedly grabbed her by her arm and drug her across the garage floor.
Deputies noted a small circular indentation in the drywall “that was consistent with the woman’s story,” as well as scrape markings on her right upper thigh and her right ankle and drag marks on the garage floor, the report says.
Swindle claimed the woman took a swing at him but didn’t connect. The report also notes that “both victim and defendant had quite a bit to drink.”
Swindle was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with domestic battery. He was released last Sunday afternoon on his own recognizance and is due in court Feb. 26 to answer to the charge.
