Ocala man admits he roughed up ailing woman to make her leave

Lance Allen Jerabek

An Ocala man admitted he was the primary aggressor in a physical altercation with a woman he was trying to make leave his house.

Lance Allen Jerabek, 44, was charged with simple battery after the incident, which happened Monday. Jerabek, who called law enforcement, told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy the victim had been sick and in bed all day, according to the sheriff’s office report.

Jerabek said he grabbed the victim by the arms and tried to pull her out of the bed, telling her she needed to leave. He said as he was forcibly pulling her from the bed, the victim struck him in the face with a closed fist. Jerabek said he got on top of the victim to hold her down so she couldn’t strike him, but she was able to hit him again, causing him to get off her. He said he then called 911, the report said.

The victim’s statement was nearly identical to Jerabek’s account. She said she had to kick him to get him off her. The deputy observed a minor abrasion on the front of the base of the victim’s neck. She provided a written statement. There were no witnesses.

While on the way to the Marion County Jail, Jerabek spontaneously said he was wrong in grabbing the victim and that he understands he was being arrested because he was the “primary aggressor.” Jerabek, who had no criminal history before the incident, was released Tuesday on his own recognizance. He’s due to appear in Marion County Court on March 18.
